Turn Around Bright Eyes

Congratulations to Country Girl!  She was upset with herself for not knowing the artists full name, but knew the answer to this weeks Weekend Words was indeed, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. (If you don't already know how great Kate and her blog are, then you have never read my blog before.  She is featured here more than any other blog I read. If you haven't been to her site then GO NOW.)

Total Eclipse of the Heart

(Turnaround)
Every now and then
I get a little bit lonely
and you're never coming around
(Turnaround)
Every now and then
I get a little bit tired
of listening to the sound of my tears
(Turnaround)
Every now and then
I get a little bit nervous
that the best of all the years have gone by
(Turnaround)
Every now and then
I get a little bit terrified
and then I see the look in your eyes
(Turnaround bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
(Turnaround bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
(Turnaround)
Every now and then I get a little
bit restless and i dream of something wild
(Turnaround)
Every now and then I get a little bit
helpless and im lying like a child in your arms
(Turnaround)
Every now and then I get a little bit angry
and I know I have to get out and cry
(turnaround)
Every now and then I get a little bit terrified
but then I see the look in your eyes
(Turn around bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
(Turn around bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart
(repeat 2x)

Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll never be the boy you always you wanted to be
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's no one in the universe as magical and wonderous as you
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's nothing any better and there's nothing I just wouldn't do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
Nothing I can say
Total eclipse of the heart
Total eclipse of the heart
Total eclipse of the heart

If you want to see the real music video for this song click here.
But like I said in the last post, I was given a great link to a spoof and this song, and most 80's music videos for that matter.  Watching this made me realize that Michael Jackson and Madonna, were the only ones that knew what they were doing until 1990. Enjoy the laugh.

Hope you're having a great weekend.

Shameless Plug, So I can WIN.

My friend Shauna from Trying to Stay Calm, now has a book give-away blog as well.  I don't know who she knows, but I want her connections.  She has been giving away some AMAZING books. She has cook books, self help books, novels, all on a regular basis.  And this week is no different.
For example she is giving away a Bobby Brown, Living Beauty, book. (The make-up artist, not the singer.)  It even has before and after pictures so that you can see how to do her techniques.
She also is giving away THIS:

Lamp.jpg

I don't even have a lamp on my beside table. Poor MBC has to fall asleep with the main ceiling light on, when I decided to read in bed. I also have a stack of books that sits on the floor on the side of the bed at all times. This little lamp/shelf would be PERFECT for my room.  It's even the right style and colors!

And I get an extra 3 entries for it if I blog about it.  So this is my shameful plug.

Wish me luck and head on over to one of Shauna's blogs. I'm sure you'll find something you'll love. She is an absolute SWEETHEART!

My normal Weekend Words post is below, don't forget to take a quess at the song I quoted this week.

Have a great weekend.

Weekend Words- I Love the 80's

Yesterday, my SIL showed me a link to a spoof on this songs music video.  We had a really good laugh at the expense of a lot of 80's music videos because of it.  So now I have that song stuck in my head and I decided to use it as this weeks, Weekend Words game.
The quote:

"Every now and then
I get a little bit lonely"

So to play: leave your guess as to the correct title of the song in the comment section.
The winner: will get a plug here by Monday and has bragging rights for the week.

I hope that you all have a great weekend.

Thankful Thursday-Family

This Thursday I'm choosing to spotlight Family.  I have so many reasons to be thankful for the family I have. I have 4 amazing kids, the greatest husband EVER, loving parents, super in-laws, and siblings of mine and MBC's that aren't just family they are my friends.

Last night my baby brother (who is a firefighter EMT) taught my son's scout troop CPR so they can go to camp.

Rocker came home so excited.  At first he said that they learned so much, he was afraid he wouldn't remember it all, but then for two hours I heard all about how Uncle J brought at least 7 dummies of all different sizes.  He told me how to do the Heimlich on an infant, a normal kid/adult, and someone much bigger than you.  He told me how to do CPR on a grown up, and an infant.  He showed me how to check for pulse, and breathing. He showed me how to find the right place to do compressions, the proper way to do compressions. He told me that when you do compressions you break all the ribs of the person you're saving.

I heard all about how Uncle J. had made everyone practise, but he gave each person a different scenario as they were coming up to take their turn.   One boy: just saw a kid fall out of a tree and land on their head, so how should you go about opening their airway?  The next: found someone floating in a pool, what should they do? While another: came home from school and saw their mom lying on the floor not breathing.  etc.

He told me how big an adults airway is compared to an infants. The list went on and on.
But best of all the last thing he said before he went to bed was he felt so much better knowing that he could save his family if he had to.

I know that he did learn a lot, and he does think that he could respond in an emergency. AND I know that he has a whole new respect for his uncle.

So THANKS Bro.!  I really appreciate you taking time away from your own cute family to spend an hour with my son and his friends.  You gave him a new hero and made him feel better about himself.

Pic of the Week-Breaking the Barrier

I saw this picture last week and thought it was an amazing shot.  It was taken from an air craft carrier as a jet above was breaking the Sound Barrier.

Scientist can't really explain the cone shape, but it has been witnessed many times. For the whole story click here to read the article.

Memories Monday- We Rock as Parents

So I'm deviating a little from my normal Memories Monday sort of post where I talk about a memory I have from years ago, and I'm going to talk about a memory that we created this last weekend for my kids.

We decided that we wanted to do something really fun for the 4th of July.  We've had some things come up and happen this year that have put crimps in plans and we've had to disappoint the kiddos a couple of times.  We wanted to make up for that and do something big this summer.  So what did we come up with?...

If you don't live in Utah then you might not have heard about the AWESOME concert and fireworks that the Freedom Festival in Provo puts on every year.  It was started by the Osmond family over 20 years ago, and especially within the last 10 years they have been able to bring in some really big national names (People like Toby Keith, Miley Cyrus, Alabama and many MANY more)  to go along with their dancers and choir.

This year they did not disappoint.  The MC was radio and television's Glenn Beck, who I felt was incredibly respectful and patriotic.  SHeDaisy, a grammy nominated country girl group that just happens to be three sisters from here in Utah  AND...

Yes,  THOSE Jonas Brothers; quite possibly the biggest group in America right now, especially if you have three girls living in  your house.  They LOVE these boys.

and I have to admit that they put on one heck of a show.  They were fun, loud,... good.  I'm not ashamed to admit that I was able to sing-a-long to a few songs, but my favorite part was when they asked the moms and dads to stand up and prove to their kids that "they still got it" and sang their remake of Sweet Caroline (originally by Neil Diamond).  It was so much fun.

So after two hours of great entertainment we got to sit RIGHT under one of the biggest fireworks shows in the country.  They were AMAZING. But there was something different this year.
This year they had an intermission in the fireworks and they had a flag retiring ceremony.  A huge flag that was made for the 2002 Winter Olympic games and has since been around the country (in fact my MBC held that very flag at a St. Louis Rams game back when he was in the color guard.) but has finally seen it's day.
It was an amazingly patriotic and respectful service.  It was beautiful to watch the respect and dignity that was used as the military carried it in and carefully placed it into the "furnace" in which it was to be burned.
I'm so glad that my kids were able to see it and I hope that they will be able to remember the feeling of respect that was in the air.
Then of course there we even more fireworks and we all went home feeling very lucky that we had been there. (and mom and dad even left feeling it was worth the money we dished out; something that doesn't always happen when you do things for your kids.)

So my thanks go out to all those involved in making that wonderful night happen.  Thanks for the great memories that you gave to my family, we won't soon forget it.

Happy Independence Day!

I hope that you are all having a WONDERFUL holiday weekend.

Take some time to think about why we really celebrate it and to thank someone you know in the military fighting to keep things that way.
